Cement EN 15804+A2 LCA and EPD generation

CEM I, II, III, IV and V types; clinker ratio, supplementary materials (fly ash, slag, limestone) — clca holds all cement variants in one model. EN 16908 PCR-aligned modulary table and verifier bundle.

Impact hotspots

A1–A3 — Clinker production and grinding

  • A1 — limestone calcination (CaCO₃ → CaO + CO₂): process emission, ~60-65% of cement GWP
  • A1 — fuel combustion (typically coal; alternative fuels can cut 30-40%)
  • A3 — grinding electricity (typically 100 kWh/ton cement)

C — End of life

  • C — concrete recycling has high uncertainty for the cement fraction

EN 15804+A2 modules

ModuleModelling note
A1—A3Cradle-to-gate is the standard cement EPD scope (factory-gate FU: 1 ton).
A4Transport to site; road/rail/sea mode combination.
A5Reported at cement EPD level (not concrete); mixing/use loss.
C1—C4Often MND for stand-alone cement; cement share applied in concrete end-of-life accounting.
DContribution from CDW (construction & demolition waste) recycling.
