LCA impact categories and EN 15804+A2 alignment

Core and additional impact categories reported in the EN 15804+A2 modulary table. Definition, unit and EN 15804+A2 alignment for each.

GWP

GWP — Global Warming Potential

kg CO₂-eq, the contribution of greenhouse gases to climate change. EN 15804+A2 reports GWP-total, fossil, biogenic, luluc separately.

ODP

ODP — Ozone Depletion Potential

kg CFC-11-eq, the impact of halocarbons damaging the stratospheric ozone layer.

AP

AP — Acidification Potential

mol H+-eq, contribution of SO₂, NOx and NH₃ emissions causing acid rain to terrestrial acidification.

EP

EP — Eutrophication Potential

In EN 15804+A2 split into three: freshwater (kg P-eq), marine (kg N-eq) and terrestrial (mol N-eq).

POCP

POCP — Photochemical Oxidation

kg NMVOC-eq, contribution to tropospheric ozone and smog formation.

ADP

ADP — Abiotic Resource Depletion

Two sub-indicators: kg Sb-eq (minerals & metals) and MJ (fossil fuels).

CED

CED — Cumulative Energy Demand

MJ of total primary energy demand over the life cycle (renewable + non-renewable).
