The most frequently asked questions about the C-LCA platform, LCA methodology and the EPD process.

What is C-LCA?

C-LCA is an enterprise-grade Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and EPD platform compliant with EN 15804+A2 and ISO 14040/44. It models the environmental impact of products from raw material extraction through end-of-life and recycling.

What is EN 15804 and why does it matter?

EN 15804 is the European standard for preparing Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for construction products. The EN 15804+A2 (2019) revision defines all mandatory environmental impact indicators for product (A1–A5), use (B1–B7), end-of-life (C1–C4) and beyond-system-boundary benefits (D) modules.

Which database does C-LCA use?

The platform is integrated with ecoinvent v3.12, the most widely used LCA inventory database worldwide, containing more than 30,000 activity records.

Which impact categories can I calculate?

More than 23 environmental impact categories including GWP (global warming potential), ODP (ozone depletion), AP (acidification), EP (eutrophication), ADP (resource depletion) and POCP (photochemical oxidation). The platform supports CML, EF v3.1, IMPACT World+ and other LCIA methods.

How long does an EPD project take?

Typical EPD work on the platform completes within 1–4 weeks depending on product complexity. Automated template filling and ecoinvent matching considerably shorten the timeline.

Is there an academic license?

Yes. We offer up to 50% discounted academic licensing for universities, research institutions and student projects. Contact us for details.

Can I create custom emission sets?

Yes. You can derive custom emission sets from ecoinvent activities and adapt them to local conditions, editing per-flow emission values. The system shows the LCIA delta of your changes in real time.

Is my data secure?

All data is stored encrypted and isolated through multi-tenant workspaces. Every operation is written to the audit trail, giving you transparent traceability of who changed what and when.

Is API access available?

A RESTful API is available for reading and writing data. Contact our team for detailed API documentation.

What format can I deliver to the verifier?

C-LCA produces a full traceability bundle for accredited third-party verifiers: raw inventory (CSV/JSON), modulary table, dominance analysis, sensitivity analysis and audit log. Formats from program operators such as ITB, IBU, EPD International and ECOnsult are supported.
